The Trees4Trash™ Initiative, launched by Plastic Ocean Project, Inc. in 2019, aims to tackle ocean debris and climate change by removing trash from the environment and planting trees. For every 25 pounds of trash collected, the program plants one tree, having already removed over 37,000 pounds of trash and planted over 2,000 trees. The initiative seeks to address the dual issues of storm damage and CO2 absorption while engaging participants in environmental stewardship.
